Laszlo Moholy-Nagy

Hungarian-born László Moholy-Nagy (1895-1946) was influential not only as a photographer but also as a filmmaker, teacher, and painter. He taught at the Bauhaus in Germany and, after fleeing the Nazi regime, settled in Chicago, where he founded the Institute of Design. He pioneered the photomontage and created the camera-less medium of the "photogram."

Sixty reproductions from the J. Paul Getty Museum's outstanding collection of the work of this important photographer—each described by Katherine Ware—serve as an exciting introduction to Moholy-Nagy's work. This book, the second publication in the In Focus series, includes the edited transcript of a recent colloquium that provides the historical and critical perspective necessary for understanding Moholy-Nagy's vital contribution to the art of the twentieth century.

Richard Huelsenbeck

Huelsenbeck was born in Frankenau, Germany in 1892.

He joined the Caberet Voltaire as a result of his friend Huge Ball. He annoyed the public in a way rivalled only by Tzara, Huelsenbeck annoyed the world with his 'school boy insolence' - he was a loud, noisy upstart and delighted in irritating people.

Huelsenbeck was more prolific a writer than an artist, he was obsessed with Negro rhythms - his public readins of poetry were usually accompanied by a large tomtom drum. Ball said that Huelsenbeck would like to "drum literiture into the ground."
Huelsenbeck came to Berlin in 1917 and found a war weary city riddled with corruption. He promptly denounced his Dada colleagues and said that to have any relevance in Germany Dada must be stronger and even mre provocative than in Zurich - it must be ready to 'make literature with a gun'. He joined with other artists Franz Jung, George Grosz, Raoul Hausmann and Johannes Baader who declared himself 'super-dada'. Together they founded the 'Christ & Co. Ltd.' and stormed the Weimar Diet and threw down leaflets declaring themselves rulers of the Glob

Bart Van der Leck

Bart Van der Leck
This art work is by  Bart Van der Leck is a picture i would say is hard to understand can be what u want it to be. Its like Visual Art.
Bart van der Leck (November 261876Utrecht - November 131958Blaricum) was a Dutch painter, designer, and ceramacist. With Theo van Doesburg and Piet Mondriaan he founded the De Stijl art movement.
Son of a house painter, he started his career learning how to make stained glass in a shop in Utrecht. An example of his later stained glass work is in the Kröller-Müller Museum in Hoge Veluwe, Netherlands.
He tried his hand at typography, stained-glass work, interior design and ceramics, but – contrary to what he himself aimed at - owes his reputation mainly to painting.

Alphonsa Mucha

This is a work of art by Alphonsa Mucha and this pieces of art is call women and flowers. I think that this art work is say how much women love flower and how pretty flowers and women are and I love this art work because it is so pretty. This is something i would bring in to my house and hang up that how pretty this is to me i would buy this art work. He use typography  and what he use is art nouveau. This is a picture at the top to see.
Alphonse Mucha was born in 1860 in Ivancice, Moravia, which is near the city of Brno in the modern Czech Republic. It was a small town, and for all intents and purposes life was closer to the 18th than the 19th century. Though Mucha is supposed to have started drawing before he was walking, his early years were spent as a choirboy and amateur musician. It wasn't until he finished high school (needing two extra years to accomplish that onerous task) that he came to realize that living people were responsible for some of the art he admired in the local churches. That epiphany made him determined to become a painter, despite his father's efforts in securing him "respectable" employment as a clerk in the local court.

History of Posters

History of Posters –

The first posters were created in the mid 19th century in France as advertisements for new products. In less than ten years, the use of posters spread from France throughout the rest of Europe. They were also used for promotional purposes for theater, and operas shows and major events in Paris and the throughout France. But Jules Cheret, "The Father of the Poster," was the first to give importance to the poster as an artistic image. In 1867, he used the new four-color lithographic process to create a highly stylized form of graphic art that thoroughly integrated text and image.

Like Cheret, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and Pierre Bonnard designed numerous posters and lithographs during the nineteenth century. Like most print media, graphic arts were dependent on the invention of the printing press. This allowed for the mass production of all shapes and sizes of posters as well. The technique that is used to print posters is called lithography. This is printing by placing ink on a series of metal or stone ("lithos") carvings, which are really reliefs of color regions on the poster. The Art of Lithography was invented by Alois Senefelder in 1798 in Austria. By 1848 the process had been refined to the point that it was possible to print 10,000 sheers per hour. The First person to produce posters in mass through Lithography was Jules Chéret (1836-1933). He worked in Paris, where his very first poster was entitled Orphée aux Enfants(1858). In 1889 Chéret was awarded the Legion of Honor for creating a "new branch of art."
